The Henry

TheHenrySelf-described as the “greatest neighborhood restaurant,” The Henry is the place you’d want to be—sharing a coffee with a friend, making business deals over lunch, or enjoying a special occasion dinner with friends and family. Even the name sounds friendly, familiar and welcoming. The Henry features made-from-scratch American fare that is both comforting and refined. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant has a warm interior adorned with evergreen banquettes, navy and gold studded walls, and a mix of modern and industrial décor that evokes sophistication and style. Large picture windows and an outdoor patio give way to inspiring views of Camelback Mountain.

Under the direction of executive chef Christopher Wolven, the diverse menu begins with hearty breakfast offerings; moves into traditional and timeless lunch items; and transitions into dinner selections that are examples of American fare at its best. There are also entrees inspired from global cuisines, such as the Thai peanut black cod, Korean short rib, and Mediterranean branzino.

What would a neighborhood spot be without a great bar? Combining cutting-edge cocktails with old-time favorites, The Henry’s bar and cocktail program features unexpected twists such as the Gin & Tonic No. 8 with grapefruit bitters and fever tree Mediterranean tonic, or the Fig & Ginger Mule with figenza fig, fresh lime and Gosling’s ginger beer. Bloody Marys and bubblinis are prepared tableside, while the House Browns menu features highly sought-after bourbons, whiskeys, ryes and scotches.

The Henry is also home to the XV Coffee Bar & Larder, a walk-up breakfast and lunch counter that offers coffee and fresh-baked goods, as well as grab-and-go and takeout orders. Guests are invited to enjoy their coffee, meet or work in the lounge, a gathering place featuring large community tables, couches and comfortable seating.

Certainly no small feat for any executive chef, Wolven’s extensive and impressive background—which includes working with local chefs Matt McLinn and Michael de Maria; and “Top Chef” winner Douglass Keane, chef-owner of Michelin two-starred Cyrus in Napa Valley—has made him feel right at home at the helm of the “greatest neighborhood restaurant.”
